Child Safe Zones is to be featured again on GMTV
Tag Your Tots week (8th July 2004).
A year ago Child Safe Zones was launched on GMTV during their
Tag Your Tots week. The public immediately welcomed the service
as it helped to provide a practical solution to a problem
we have all faced at some time in our lives.
A year on and we are going from strength to strength with
shopping centres around the country setting up as Child Safe
Zones. The service has been extended to beaches, town centres
and other places which all serves to underline the main objective
– to set up a national service that can be recognised by children
and parents at every public venue in the UK.
Child Safe Zones Reconstruction
Lorraine Kelly introduces Child Safe Zones live on
GMTV.
Kate Garraway asks what we can do if we lose our
child in a busy shopping centre.
Kate is introduced to the Child Safe
Zones friendly orange balloon and a family who have
just registered.
Kate shows the Child Safe Zones website and explains
how the service works:
You are out shopping and you are momentarily distracted.
That’s all it takes for a child to wander off and
start exploring on their own.
It is the moment every parent dreads… turning around
to discover their child has gone.
Thankfully this mother is in a Child Safe Zones and
immediately turns to the nearest shop window and rings
the number displayed and is put straight through to
CCTV.
The CCTV operator can search the area
around where the mother has just called to try and locate
the missing child.
If the family is registered on Child
Safe Zones and the parent gives the authority, then
the photo can be made immediately available to the CCTV
operator.
This is photo is then sent to the camera
phones of the security guards.
This allows the CCTV operator and security
‘on the floor’ to help find the missing child in the
shortest possible time...
